Hello, and welcome to the blog!
As you might have guessed, it is first and foremost about cakes – and particularly about the search for the ultimate cupcake for any occasion (and isn’t there always an occasion for a cupcake?) But since it’s also important to maintain a varied diet, every now and then you’ll find a brownie here and a cookie there. And when my conscience gets the better of me, I’ll pop in a recipe for healthier alternatives such as chia cookies and banana muffins with no added sugars and fats In the end, I hope there’ll be something for every taste.
My fascination for cupcakes started when a couple of friends invited us for their wedding and asked the guests to bring food instead of gifts. I landed in the dessert group and decided that mini cupcakes would be ideal for a buffet, since you’ll generally want to taste as many desserts as possible, wouldn’t you? (at least I would, I’m all about the sweet stuff!) And since a wedding is an occasion for extravagance if ever there was one, I went out and bought a couple of cupcake stands to make it all look a little more festive. And once you’ve become the owner of such niceties, which some – such as your husband – might dismiss as superfluous, you also bring upon yourself the responsibility to put them into good use!
Hence my next project became to find the ideal mini cupcakes for my daughter’s christening. For 1 ½ months I went through a laborious series of cupcake tests and frosting experiments – and in the meantime, my husband, once a firm cupcake sceptic, became quite the fan of my new hobby (welcome to the dark side – we’ve got cupcakes…!)
As I tested dozens of recipes, making my own adjustments and experiments along the way, I thought it might be fun to share my experiences. At the same time I was looking for an educative project to entertain myself with throughout the rest of my maternity leave. As I work with communications and marketing, the blog seemed like a good idea: I get to try my hands on creating a website from scratch, play around with plugins and widgets, learn a little about SEO and Google Analytics – stuff that I can take with me when I go back to work.
Privately, I live in a small village outside of Roskilde, Denmark, with my husband Ulrik, our daughter Silje from August 2015, and Magnum the chihuahua (he’s long-haired and actually looks like a real dog, if you can look past the fact that he jumps when he barks ). I’m a huge fan of home-baked goods and use every possible excuse to bake for family, friends and colleagues. Whatever mood you’re in, I hope you’ll find inspiration on this blog!
I myself like to look for inspiration here:
